Ways To Regain My Figure

After Pregnancy

After the wonderful experience of becoming a mother, you will now be thinking about regaining your pre-pregnancy shape.  There are some women who will shed their excess pounds easily but for the majority it is more difficult.

Do not expect immediate weight loss after pregnancy:  remember your weight was put on slowly over 9 months and you may need at least the same amount of time to lose the excess pounds.

It is not advisable to exercise energetically in the first weeks after giving birth.  You need to regain your strength first before starting to work-out to lose weight and will need to speak to your gp or midwife if you wish to start any exercise programme before your six-week check but activities such as swimming, walking and yoga can help shed the excess pounds you have gained.

Once you can stand comfortably, begin doing pelvic tilts.   Do this by tilting the bottom portion of your pelvis forward as you compress your abdominal muscles toward your spine.

Natural delivery mothers can progress over the next few weeks to abdominal front curls by putting two pillows behind their upper back, then one pillow, then none.  If you have had a caesarean, you must wait until the inner layers of your incision heal and your doctor has given you permission to do these.

Eat a well balanced diet including plenty of vegetables and fruit, and drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and keep your body refreshed.
